Sierra-Leone Cancels Christmas As Ebola Crisis Deepens

AFP tweeted this evening that Sierra Leone have cancelled this year's Christmas celebrations due to the severe Ebola crisis rocking the nation.

Speaking in the capital of Freetown, Palo Conteh:

"There will be no Christmas and New Year celebrations this year.We will ensure that everybody remains at home to reflect on Ebola. 

"Military personnel will be on the streets at Christmas and the New Year to stop any street celebrations."

Over 1,300 new cases of Ebola have been recorded in Sierra Leone in the past three weeks.
