Grace Tinuke Oyelude became the first Miss Nigeria when the contest was introduced way back in 1957 as "Photo Contest."
At the time, contestants were asked to send their photographs to Daily Times' headquarters in Lagos where finalists were shortlisted.
After screening contestants, finalists were invited to compete in the LIVE finals at the Lagos Island club.
However, the contest didn't include a swimsuit competition and Oyelude was working at the United African Company (UAC) when she represented the then Northern region.
The prize money she won from the contest was £200. She used part of it to travel to England to study nursing at Royal College of Nursing, England.
